Hydroxypropyl Starch Ether(HPS): A type of non-ionic starch, also known as starch ether, produced by the etherification reaction of epichlorohydrin with starch under alkaline conditions. The raw material is cassava starch. The hydroxypropyl content is 25%, which prevents thixotropy. Due to its characteristics of low viscosity, high hydrophilicity, good flowability, weak coagulation, and high stability, it is widely used in the construction and decoration industry, such as neutral and alkaline composite materials such as building dry powder, plastering gypsum, and joint adhesives, to improve the internal structure of materials and have good compatibility with additives, making the product more resistant to dry cracking, anti sagging, and improving workability and construction performance.

It can be used as an additive for cement based products, gypsum based products and lime calcium products. It has good compatibility with other building additives. When used together with hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose(HPMC), it can play a thickening role, promote internal structure, and have better crack resistance and improve work ability. The amount of HPMC can be obviously reduced by adding modified starch ether(HPS).
Safety and Handling:
HPS is non-toxic and safe for use in food and pharmaceutical applications when used in compliance with regulatory standards. However, it is always recommended to use protective gear such as gloves and masks during handling to avoid any irritation.
Storage:
Store HPS in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure the packaging is tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption, which can affect its performance.
